His fellow students made him believe that he was the most popular member of his fraternity even though they actually loathed him. After finishing school, he attended Yale University. This caused him to use the main characters from his favorite series, The Growing Years, as some sort of replacement for his actual family. While his two brothers and one sister were regarded as very successfully by his parents, Brett never received any praise from them and spent much of his time alone.
Brett was born as the youngest son in a family of nobles.
